Ashley Lovell Announces Candidacy for Hoover City Council, Place 3, in 2025

HOOVER, AL – Ashley Lovell, a lifelong advocate for Hoover’s residents and values, is proud to announce her candidacy for Hoover City Council, Place 3, in the 2025 election. A product of the Hoover City School System and a vocal supporter of transparency, accountability, and community-first leadership, Ashley is ready to fight for the people of Hoover and ensure the city’s long-term success.

Ashley’s roots in Hoover run deep. She has called the city home since 1999, attending Rocky Ridge Elementary, Berry Middle School, and Spain Park High School before earning her degree from Birmingham-Southern College. She credits the Hoover City School System as one of the city’s most significant assets and a cornerstone of its success. After living out of state for several years, Ashley returned to Hoover in 2022 to raise her family.

“I love Hoover. This is where I grew up, built my values, and discovered my passion for community,” Ashley said. “I returned because I want my family to grow up in the same incredible city that shaped me—and I’m committed to preserving what makes Hoover special while ensuring it thrives for future generations.”

In addition to being a devoted parent, Ashley has built a successful 14-year career with Lincare, where her work has centered on improving lives through healthcare solutions. This professional experience has shaped her belief that government should operate efficiently—like a well-run business—but always with the needs of residents at the forefront.

Ashley’s decision to run for City Council was sparked by her leadership in the fight against the Tattersall Park development, a 25-year issue that has plagued her community. She has worked tirelessly to organize residents, gather feedback, and advocate for thoughtful, community-first solutions with city officials and developers. Her efforts helped achieve a significant victory for her neighborhood, highlighting the power of residents coming together to hold their leaders accountable.

“Tattersall wasn’t just about one development—it was a wake-up call,” Ashley stated. “While I believe there are dedicated leaders on the City Council, the way this issue was handled raised serious concerns about transparency and accountability. Too often, the voices of residents are overlooked in favor of outside interests. Hoover deserves better. It’s time for leadership that consistently puts the people first.”

Ashley is challenging current City Council President John Lyda, who she says has lost sight of his role as a servant to the public. “Hoover’s leaders should be working for us—not acting like we’re here to serve them. It’s time to put an end to backroom deals, lack of accountability, and bullying tactics. I’m stepping forward to fight for a transparent, community-focused government and to ensure the voices of Hoover’s residents are heard loud and clear.”

Ashley’s campaign is focused on preserving the core values that make Hoover exceptional: a strong public school system, safe neighborhoods, and thoughtful, well-managed growth. She believes that Hoover’s best days are still ahead but requires bold, collaborative leadership to secure the city’s future.

“This campaign isn’t just about me—it’s about us,” Ashley said. “Together, we can ensure Hoover remains a thriving, family-oriented community where everyone’s voice matters. I’m ready to fight for Hoover, and I hope you’ll join me.”
